AUGUSTE LU Art Exhibition "ZEN garden"

Auguste Lu & Guest Artist: 絵獅匡 (Eshou Masashi)

🗓 August 1–11, 2025
📍 Gallery/Studio CHARLOTTE.USAGI, Yokohama

Open Daily 11:00–18:00 (Closed on August 4)
1 min walk from JR Ishikawacho Station South Exit

After captivating audiences in Nagoya and Roppongi with her emotionally charged DUALITY: our divided selves collection, Lithuanian-born artist Auguste Lu returns with a new solo exhibition inspired by the meditative spirit of Zen.

Set in the tranquil space of Gallery/Studio CHARLOTTE.USAGI, just one minute from Ishikawacho Station, Zen Garden invites visitors into a flowing world of minimalist serenity, where paint behaves like water and breath, gently carving through silence.

Auguste, now based in Japan, is known for her unique ability to merge Eastern calm with Western expression. Her work blends acrylics in soft, watery movements, reminiscent of Japanese sumi-e but grounded in Baltic aura. The result is a body of work that feels both ancient and contemporary - an elegant whisper between cultures.

Both canvas works and decorative shikishi paintings will be on display, each capturing the fleeting harmony of form, emptiness, and emotion.

Featuring collection:

DUALITY: our divided selves

The collection DUALITY: our divided selves explores the tensions and contrasts within human identity, such as freedom and responsibility, individuality and belonging, through layered abstraction and emotional depth. Each piece acts as a mirror, inviting viewers to reflect on the inner oppositions that shape their lives. The collection resonates with audiences not only for its technical elegance but also for its emotional clarity.

With Zen Garden, presented at Gallery/Studio CHARLOTTE.USAGI, Auguste Lu shifts the emotional lens inward. While DUALITY reveals the psychological push and pull of the self, Zen Garden seeks stillness within that movement. Paint flows like water, breath, and silence, offering a space of reflection where contradiction is not resolved but gently held. The result is a visual and emotional pause—a meditative landscape where the viewer is invited simply to feel.

Featured Guest Work:

The Great Dragon Scroll

As a special highlight, artist 絵獅匡 (Eshou Masashi) will present his celebrated Daishōryū (Great Rising Dragon) hanging scroll—an expansive, powerful ink work previously exhibited in Belgium.
This large-scale piece brings contrast and energy to the show, making it an natural fusion of western and eastern art.
